Welcome to our “Castello San Sebastiano” with its history, culture, charm and above all beauty. The Castello of San Sebastiano sits proudly on the Hills of the River Po, situated near to Turin it was closely tied to the Piedmont region and King’s happenings. This is a region to be carefully explored and discovered since it offers hospitality and beauty in various forms: mountains, rivers, plains, hills, traditions, history of art, a vast cuisine and fine vines. Every season has something to offer its guests. The following are some interesting historical and artistic background details as to the origins of our castle, and home today. The property originates from Medieval times (10th century) when San Sebastiano formed part of the estate of the Marchese di Monferrato. In 1700 Paolo Federico Novarina, Count of San Sebastiano, commissioned the renowned architect, Bernardo Vittone, to redesign and restore the antique, medieval building, adding late Baroque and Neoclassic elements. The frescos painted by Pietro Bagetti, at the beginning of the 19th century in the gallery area are a truly beautiful feature. The delightful gardens, designed by Xavier Kurten in 1810 formed part of Turin university’s botanical studies at that time, and today include an Italian garden with “parterres” of box trees and roses, a fruit orchard, centuries old wonderful cedars of Lebanon, cypress tress, old Japanese maples and other botanical rare species.
