The exhibition, located in the
Mastio della Cittadella complex, explores the artistic genius of
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec through the lens of his iconic lithographs and bold posters. Immersed in the vibrant context of fin-de-siècle Paris, it offers an in-depth look at the works of one of the greatest masters of 19th century graphic art.
The exhibition consists of more than
120 works and celebrates the 160th anniversary of Toulouse-Lautrec’s birth. The exhibition opens with an overview of the lively artistic and cultural environment of Paris during the
Belle Époque, highlighting the seething atmosphere of the cafés, cabarets, theatres and circus that so inspired Toulouse-Lautrec.
The exhibition layout will highlight his recurring themes, including the circus, Parisian nightlife, portraits of artists and celebrities of the time and the representation of the marginalised social classes.
In a dedicated area, visitors could also experience Toulouse-Lautrec’s creative process through
interactive stations of artistic creation.
