SULLA VIA DELLA FOLGORE DI DIAMANTE

Exhibited for the first time, these 25 thangka dated back to between the XVII and the XIX centuries. The term “thangka” indicates a painted fabric that may be rolled up: the paintings are made with temperas on a cotton muslin cloth and the preparation base is made with a mixture of plaster and kaolin. The paintings are considered holy objects not only because they represent religious subjects and symbols pertinent to the complex tantric Buddhist iconography, but also because they act as a concrete support to meditation.
