TORINO CHE LEGGE - SCINTILLE URBANE

From 20 to 23 April, ’Torino che legge’ returns, an event created to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day established by UNESCO on 23 April.

Now in its seventh edition, ’Torino che legge’ involves the entire city, from the centre to the suburbs, with many events including readings, meetings with authors and initiatives for adults and children, held in public and private spaces: libraries, bookshops, schools, neighbourhood houses, institutions, associations and foundations, clubs, squares, courses, gardens and historic tramways.

Torino che legge celebrates the centenary of Italo Calvino’s birth in the Biblioteca civica named after him with a preview scheduled for Wednesday 19 April at 6 p.m., entitled ’Calvino nel tempo’. A lecture by Silvio Perrella, author of Calvino (Editori Laterza), accompanied by readings by Stefania Giuliani from ’Intervista impossibile a Calvino’ and ’Insperati incontri’.

The homage to the famous Piedmontese writer will continue on Thursday 20 April from 5.30 to 7 p.m. on the historic blue tram - kindly made available again for this edition by ATTS - Associazione Torinese Tram Storici -, with a fascinating route along the streets of the city centre accompanied by theatrical readings curated by Stefania Giuliani and performed by the students of the O.D.S. - Operatori Doppiaggio e Spettacolo School, in collaboration with Turin’s civic libraries.
Departure is from Piazza Castello (Teatro Regio side) every 30 minutes.

Free admission, reservation required https://torinocheleggeintram.eventbrite.it.
