The most thrilling air sports are paragliding, hang-gliding, parachuting and balloon flights. For
paragliding and
hang-gliding there are bases in Piossasco, Caprie and Val della Torre for flights made in the thermal updrafts from the lower valleys of Turin. In Val Germanasca the main flying site is the one going from Punta Bric Rond to Prali. While in the peaks around Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx and Bardonecchia, a territory that offers flights for all tastes and levels of flying expertise, it is also possible to take part in winter gliding.
From the easy take-offs from the grassy slopes to the more challenging flights at high altitudes, Canavese, between Brosso and Andrate close to Ivrea, offers launch points around Mount Cavallaria. Ceres, at the entrance to the Ala Valley, is the point of reference for the Lanzo Valleys with the ground school of Menulla. At Cumiana and Garzigliana in Pinerolo close to Turin, there are possibilities for taking courses and for parachute and tandem jumps. Lastly, the balloon flights ensure vertical take-offs: one of the trips in most demand is the one flying over Masino Castle.
