Pirandello stayed in Coazze on holiday with his sister Lina in the summer of 1901. He was pleasantly struck by certain details (e.g. the inscription ’Each in his own way’ on the bell tower, the large quantity of water and the philanthropist and entrepreneur Luigi Prever).
