The exhibition narrates the birth and evolution of Macchiaioli painting in its most diverse aspects, highlighting the origins and reasons for this artistic revolution, its developments and its important legacy. The aim of the exhibition is to investigate the protagonists and the evolution of this important movement, fundamental for the birth of modern Italian painting.

The point of view adopted recounts at the same time the historical and artistic importance of the movement, its relations with the French scene, the technical innovations introduced by the painters of the group, but also the everyday life at the historic café Il Michelangelo, following the thread of the stories, writings and letters left by the protagonists. An unusual way of narrating the story, which will also thrill the less experienced audience.
