On Saturday 4 March, in the splendid setting of the
Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, the exhibition ’Elena, Queen of Charity and Peace’ was inaugurated, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elena of Montenegro, second Sovereign of Italy and Golden Rose of Christianity.
On display are all items from private collections, which are not normally visible to the public: photographs, books, a collection of postcards from 1896 to 1920, vintage spectacles, plates, cutlery, calendars with images of the king and queen, war and photo albums, historical cameras, heraldic wedding prints and the series of three paintings depicting Queen Helena made using three different techniques to depict the art of the past with the cyanotype technique, of the present with the canvas print technique and of the future with 3D printing with backlit lithophane.
