On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Sfida al Barocco’ held at the Reggia di Venaria, CAMERA presents the exhibition ‘
VEDERE (il) BAROCCO: lavori in corso’ curated by Barbara Bergaglio and Pierangelo Cavanna, which can be freely visited in the
Project Room from 19 June to 30 August.
70 images tell the story of how a large group of photographers have “looked” at the Baroque, in particular its architecture, in 20th century Turin. The exhibition focuses on the different ways it is possible to photographically describe Baroque architecture, a practice that has accompanied the growth of its critical fortune and its recognition in the collective imagination.
A way of looking that has changed over the years: from the simple descriptive intention for documentary purposes to the elaboration of refined interpretative instruments, marking the transition from the simple “Baroque photograph” to an actual “Baroque gaze”.
