An exhibition to rediscover the “
School of Rivara” after 38 years through an important painting: the majestic “
Saluzzo Fair (17th century)”, presented by
Carlo Pittara in 1880 at the 4th National Exposition of Fine Arts in Torino. The painting recalls a 17th century fair with animals, set just outside the walls of Saluzzo, with the monumental dimension of 8.11x4.08m. The great work of art made the public enthusiastic, due to the originality of the invention, the realistic rendering and the natural scale dimension. To conclude the itinerary there is a section dedicated to the National Exposition that proposes different purchases of the City of Torino for the Civic Museum: “The deposition of Pope Silverio” by Cesare Maccari, “Eulalia Cristiana” by Emilio Franceschi, “Slave” by Giacomo Ginotti.
