The GAM- Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin inaugurates in the spaces of the Wunderkammer the
exhibition "Forma /Informe", dedicated to the birth of non-objective and informal photography in Italy: a selection of 50 vintage and original prints, mostly unpublished, by 7 great photographers, from important Italian archives and prestigious international art collections, and 23 rare publications.
The exhibition is the result of an original investigation into experimental Italian photography from the mid 1930s to the late 1950s: It can be defined as "a voyage to the end of form", starting from the investigations into photographic luminism by
Giuseppe Cavalli (1904-1961) and the experimentation of Luigi Veronesi (1908- 1998), and then moving on to consider the most complete phase of the non-objective image with the optical graphism of Franco Grignani (1908-1999), the chromatic cosmographies of
Pasquale De Antonis (1908-2001), the pioneering research on material of
Piergiorgio Branzi (1928), up to a series of "decompositions" by
Paolo Monti (1908-1982) and
Nino Migliori (1926), considered today the undisputed protagonist of the informal empathic photography after World War II.
