The major exhibition features
Andrea Mantegna (Carturo Island 1431-Mantova 1506), one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance, able to combine in his works the passion for classical antiquity, bold perspective experiments and an extraordinary realism in rendering of the human figure. Around his works are the testimonies of an artistic season - the Renaissance in the Po valley, first in Padova and then in Mantova - able to relive the ancient and to build the modern.
