The exhibition is dedicated to Nella Marchesini (Marina di Massa, 1901-Torino, 1953), whose path crossed the artistic movements of the first half of the twentieth century, fuelling the research of female artists active in those years. After moving to Torino during the Great War, she joined the intellectual circle of Piero Gobetti, was a friend of Carlo Levi, Natalino Sapegno, Federico Chabod; she was the first pupil of the school of Felice Casorati - an open place frequented among others by Mario Soldati and Giulio Carlo Argan - and worked side by side with Lalla Romano and Paola Levi Montalcini. Nella Marchesini worked outside, surrounded by nature, which she discovered and investigated during the summer holidays she spent in Valle d’Aosta and Valchiusella: the exhibition presents a group of thirty works, including paintings and drawings, chosen to reconstruct the seasons of her art and the stages of her exhibition career, marked by the participation in the Biennale di Venezia and the Quadriennale di Roma and by appearances in private galleries in Torino, Milano, Genova and Firenze.
