Private life of a great statesman.
An ancient castle refashioned several times over the centuries, now it appears as an 18th century villa, which was designed by the court architect Francesco Gallo, and is surrounded by a landscaped park in the English style designed by Xavier Kurten.
Maison de plaisance of the Benso of Cavour family, it was the place where the famed statesman was born, trained and worked: in the large Diplomatic Room of 20 metres’ length there were held Cavour’s political meetings, while the library and the archives contain precious historic documents.
These days the castle has been transformed into a home-museum which commemorates the person of Camillo Benso and reveals the lifestyle of the governing classes of Piemonte under the Savoy.
